This site is dedicated to exploring the meaning and implications of Paul’s goal of winning to Christ “those without law” (1 Corinthians 9:21) in the context of today’s relativistic, postmodern culture.
The forum is premised on five foundational assumptions which visitors are encouraged to clarify, amplify, question, nudge, assail, squeeze, deflate, refute, or consign to unpleasant regions:
- The gospel IS the good news that Jesus Christ offers the free gift of eternal life to all who obey the single condition of believing in him.
- The gospel IS NOT the explanation of “how” the Giver obtained the legal right to give the gift; that is, Christian soteriology (the theology of salvation).
- The gospel must be good news to the natural man (who is subject to lack of spiritual discernment, darkened understanding, and blindness of heart) BEFORE he receives the Holy Spirit.
- The natural man has ONLY ONE obligation of obedience to the gospel: to believe in Jesus. He has no preliminary obligation to believe in or submit to the law.
- Christians represent ONLY the gospel (not the law) to the world. God administers the law through writing it on people’s hearts, convicting their consciences, and appointing secular authorities to enforce it.
I hope you will stay awhile, peruse the articles, and weigh in with your views on Christianity’s proper role in 21st-century society.
